Ireland reached the Rugby World Cup quarterfinals five times (1987, 1991, 1995, 2003, 2011) but has never won the tournament or reached a final. Their best performance was reaching the quarterfinals most recently in 2023, where they were eliminated by New Zealand. Ireland has consistently been a competitive tier-one nation in World Cup competitions despite not achieving the sport's ultimate prize.
