Connacht Rugby, founded in 1886, is one of Ireland's four provincial unions and won the Pro12 championship in 2016, their only major trophy to date. The province has produced notable international players including Mike Corcoran and Bundee Aki, and competes in the United Rugby Championship and European Rugby Challenge Cup. Based in Galway, Connacht has grown significantly since turning professional in 1997.
