Ireland has reached the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals five times (1987, 1991, 1995, 2003, 2015) but has never won the tournament or advanced beyond the quarter-finals. The team's best performances came in 2003 when they reached the quarter-finals and in 2023 when they topped their pool before losing to New Zealand in the quarter-finals. Ireland consistently ranks among the world's top rugby nations but has yet to achieve World Cup success.
