Connacht Rugby, founded in 1886, is one of Ireland's four provincial unions and won the Pro12 championship in 2016, their only major trophy. Notable players include Pat Lam (coach during their championship win), Bundee Aki, Jack Carty, and historically Robbie Henshaw. The province, based in Galway, has developed into a competitive team after decades of relative struggles compared to Leinster and Munster.
