Connacht won the Irish provincial rugby championship (now the United Rugby Championship) in 2016, their first title in 46 years, defeating Leinster in the final. They have also won multiple Interprovincial Championships historically, with their most recent success being that landmark 2016 victory under Pat Lam's management.
