Ireland has reached the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals five times (1987, 1991, 1995, 2003, 2015) but has never won the tournament or reached the final. Their best performance was reaching the quarter-finals most recently in 2019 and 2023. Ireland has consistently been a competitive Six Nations side but has underperformed relative to their talent in World Cup knockout stages.
