Ulster Rugby, founded in 1875, enjoyed their most successful period in the 1990s and early 2000s, winning the Celtic League in 1999 and reaching multiple European Cup finals. Their greatest achievement came in 1999 when they won the Celtic League title, establishing themselves as one of Ireland's premier provinces. The province has also won multiple interprovincial championships and regularly competes in the United Rugby Championship.
