Munster and Leinster are Ireland's most intense provincial rugby rivals, with Leinster historically dominant in recent decades, winning four European Cups compared to Munster's two. Their head-to-head record favors Leinster significantly, though Munster achieved memorable victories in 2016 and earlier periods. The rivalry intensifies during interprovincial derbies and has produced some of rugby's greatest matches, shaping Irish rugby culture for over a century.
