Ireland has competed in every Rugby World Cup since 1987, reaching the quarter-finals in most tournaments with their best performance being semi-finalists in 1991 and 2023. The team won the Six Nations Championship multiple times and achieved their highest world ranking of second place in 2018, but has never won the Rugby World Cup trophy.
