Ireland's Rugby Writers' Awards and other official player of the year awards have been won by numerous players throughout history, with recent winners including Johnny Sexton, James Ryan, and Dan Sheehan. The most prestigious individual award is typically presented by rugby media organizations, though Ireland doesn't have a single standardized national player of the year award like some other rugby nations, resulting in multiple award schemes recognizing different players annually.
