Connacht Rugby was founded in 1886 and spent most of its history in the second tier of Irish rugby before joining the Pro12 (now URC) in 2010, marking their rise to the professional elite. The province gradually improved from consistent early relegation battles to becoming competitive contenders, culminating in reaching the Pro12 final in 2016.
