Connacht Rugby was founded in 1886 and is one of Ireland's four provincial unions, competing in the United Rugby Championship and European competitions. The province's greatest success came in 2016 when they won the Pro12 title under Pat Lam, their first major trophy in 61 years, establishing themselves as genuine contenders in professional rugby.
