Connacht rugby history and rise in professional rugby

Connacht Rugby was founded in 1886 and competed in the Irish provincial championship for over a century before joining professional rugby in 1995 as part of the IRFU's four-province system. The province struggled initially but achieved major success in 2016 by winning the Pro12 title, their first major trophy, establishing themselves as a competitive professional force in European rugby.
