Connacht joined the Pro14 (then Celtic League) in 2003 after competing in the All-Ireland League. The western province earned their place through winning the All-Ireland League division and meeting professional standards required by the competition. They have competed continuously in the Pro14 since joining, becoming a core member of the professional rugby league.
