Connacht Rugby was founded in 1886 and competed in the All-Ireland League from its inception in 1990, progressing through divisions before joining the professional Celtic League in 2003. The province won the All-Ireland League title in 2015, their first major trophy, marking their rise as a competitive force in Irish and European rugby. They have since become regular challengers in the United Rugby Championship.
