Connacht Rugby has risen from the lower tier of Irish provincial rugby to become a competitive force in the United Rugby Championship, winning the Guinness Pro12 title in 2016 under coach Pat Lam. Their ascent transformed rugby culture in the west of Ireland and proved sustained investment and management could challenge established hierarchies.
