Ireland has reached the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals five times (1987, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2019) but has never won the tournament or reached the final. Their best performance was reaching the quarter-finals in 2019 in Japan, where they lost to New Zealand. Ireland has consistently been competitive in World Cups, winning their pool matches in recent tournaments but struggling against top-tier southern hemisphere teams in knockout stages.
