Ulster Rugby's most successful seasons were 1998-99, when they won the Celtic League and reached the Heineken Cup final, and 1999-2000, when they claimed their sole Heineken Cup title by defeating Colomiers. The 2012-13 season also ranks highly, finishing as Celtic League runners-up while reaching the Heineken Cup quarter-finals. These periods represented the province's peak competitive achievements in European and domestic competitions.
