Peter O'Mahony currently captains Ireland, succeeding Johnny Sexton in 2023. Famous Irish captains include Brian O'Driscoll, who led the team to a Grand Slam in 2009 and is considered one of rugby's greatest captains, Keith Wood, who captained during the 2003 Rugby World Cup, and Rory Best, who captained from 2018 to 2020.
