Ireland's rugby captains have included legends such as Jackie Kyle, Tom Kiernan, Ciaran Fitzgerald, Willie John McBride, Keith Wood, Brian O'Driscoll, and current captain Andy Farrell (appointed 2022). O'Driscoll is particularly notable as the longest-serving captain in Six Nations history. The captaincy has been held by 49 players since Ireland's first international match in 1875.
